Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
 
Thought I might try something new this time.  I know you guys must be starting to feel the itch of not having your regular fix of media.  Maybe some of you are starting to realize just how much media we really put into our lives each day.  Well, here’s a few things that, I hope will cheer you up!
 
First, I encourage all of you to keep going.  If its starting to get hard, GREAT!  That means its working!  You’re starting to realize something new and different - a life of freedom.  And, if you faltered, don’t fret!  Just dust yourself off, pick yourself up, and keep going! Trust me, it’s going to be worth it.
 
Second, know that you have people all around you to encourage you to keep going.  The book of Hebrews calls them a ”great cloud of witnesses.”  Think of it like a stadium of fans - hundreds, even thousands, of believers who came before you - waiting just to cheer you on.  You also have a cheering section in our group, who are only a phone call, text message, or facebook post away from lifting you up when you’re feeling down.
 
Lastly, the whole idea of this fast is to take us away from secular media and fill those times with things that bring us closer to God.  ”Like what?” you may ask.  Well, depending on your conviction, you can delve into Christian media, like worship music and audio podcasts.  You can listen to Christian radio, online podcasts, Christian TV stations, and much more.  Also, I know that in my previous fasts, I had the chance to write songs, poetry (though, I’m definitely not an expert in either field), and play music on my guitar.  And, lest we forget, you shoukd also spend this newfound free time in one-to-one devotion and prayer with God, Himself.
 
So, be strengthened! Be encouraged!  And, be ready, ‘cause things are just starting to get interesting!
